Can't We Have Our Own Identity?

One thing worse than the Korean Pop Invasion are Pinoys or in this case Pinays trying to be Koreans. From music, dance and fashion. I got nothing against Koreans and their style dun sila masaya eh and sarili nila yun pero bakit naman natin kailangan gayahin? Tanggap ko naman na ginagaya natin yun Hollywood pero ito? Di ko na ata kinaya. 3mos old na ata ito when i searched kasi kanina while I was watching TV nakita ko ito kala ko nung una Wondergirls nanaman tapos biglang nag tagalog. Pati top music videos natin ngayon mas marami ata Korean. Di ko gets naiintindihan lang naman natin dun sa mga kanta nila are a few phrases.

Wala na ba tayong originality kahit baduy? Basta atin?

Lagnat, Sinat, Binat

Most of the patients I see claimed to have fever but wasn't able to get their temperature. Fever is an objective finding meaning that you have a temperature above 37.8 C. Its really important for us to know the exact temperature (usually the maximum or the average temp) and the fever pattern for us to establish a correct diagnosis. I really don't blame people kung di nila nakukuha temp nila (eh kung walang thermometer eh) minsan nga naman nararamdaman mo na nilalagnat ka. Ito ang problema in our language meron term na sinat (for slight fever and binat (nagka fever ulet)

Doc: Nilagnat ka?
Px: Kagabi po pag uwi ko.
Doc: Ano temp mo?
Px: Di ko po nakuhaan eh  pero giniginaw po ako
Doc: Ahh so tuluy tuluy lang ang lagnat mo till ngayon? (ok na sa akin na di nya nakuhaan)
Px. Kagabi sinat sinat lang then nawala then after 2 hours bumalik lagnat na. Uminom ako biogesic then ok na ngayon doc parang nabinat ako sama pakiramdam ko.

Di ba nakakalito? Sinat and binat? May specific cut off ba sa sinat bago sya maging lagnat? I mean the exact temperature. Another thing kung di mo kinukuha ang temp mo pano mo madidifferentiate yun sinat sa lagnat. If your have a temp of 40 C for the past 24 hours at bumaba sya ng 38.5 ang feeling mo slight fever na lang di ba. Hindi magandang basis yun sensation mo ng temp sa katawan nyo. Try nyo lang lagay sa ice yun kamay mo then submerge it in tap water after feeling nyo mainit yun tubig.

Binat, mas nakakalito ito than sinat. Aside from fever na nagrelapse it could mean other bad things. It encompasses a lot of illness including psychosis. Depende na lang sa folklore ng family mo. Yun mga bawal maligo after giving birth, bawal mabasa ang buhok etc. Pansin nyo ba ang pinoy lang ang pinapasma?

They are not really answering the questions thrown at them iibahin nila sa mas dramatic na issue (like yun legality of PGMA running for another post in this case) then dun nila papaikutin and eventually na misdirect ka na nila at akala mo ang galing ng sagot nila sa tanong. PWES kung ang iba maloloko nyo ako hindi. Sumagot kayo sa ayos or iuuntog ko kayo sa muscles ko!!!

Over The Counter Drug Ads

First of all I would like to apologize for my non-creative title. I  ran out of ideas for a catchy title. Ayoko lang mapalagpas ang moment na ito na gusto kong magsulat.

I think there are are too much or sometimes untruthful (pinagandang kasinungalingan) ads regarding some of our common over the counter drugs. Ok lang kung ordinary products like soap, shampoo or detergents na if they fail walang mangyayari syo. They have a disclaimer saying "If symptoms persists consult your doctor", however in the real world this is not practiced by most of our fellow countrymen. In my honest opinion dapat mag hinay hinay lang ang mga commercial na ito sa pag advertise and stick to the basics lang. I also think na drugs concerning the GI tract like Loperamide (Diatabs et al.), Hyoscine Bromide (Buscopan) shouldn't be shown at all. I think you need to be given a prescription for these drugs. Lemme explain my foint.

Carbocisteine (Solmux): 

How it works: forms disulfide bonds with phlegm making them easier to expectorate liquefying them.

AD: "With bacterial expel action" WTF? so if I was an ordinary Juan dela Cruz I would think na "Ok to ah matatanggal yun bacteria sa baga ko" I would think na Solmux is an antibiotic kasi "Bacterial Expel" Though may bacteria sa phlegm na na-expel natin may naiiwan pa din It will multiply and multiply unless treated by an antibiotic. Kung viral cough ok lang just to help the person expectorate.

Danger: A simple upper respiratory tract infection could lead to Pneumonia. Usually common in people with weak immunity. (elderly, HIV, diabetics). I got a number of patients who substitute Solmux for prescribed antibiotics and I don't blame them mas bilib ako kay AGA kaysa kay doc. Another thing sa mga taong expectorating blood drinking this could worsen your symptom.

COLD, FLU Preps (Bioflu, Tuseran, Decolgen, Neozep etc)

General Info: Look at the GENERIC LABEL of these drugs. Its a value meal of Phenylpropanolamine, Paracetamol and Chlorpheniramine Maleate. Wag inumin ng sabay sabay because they are all the same. (para kay vitaminologist friend wag kang mamilosopo sa statement na yun)

How it works:

1.Phenylpropanolamine: constricts the blood vessels in the nasal passages therefore relieves clogged nose

2.Chlorpheniramine Maleate: This is an 1st gen anti allergy it helps the Phenylpropanolamine by reducing the nasal secretions and the allergic component of colds. This is the component which makes the patient drowsy.

3. Paracetamol: For the fever it lowers your temp and also acts as pain reliever for the headace and joint pains that comes with the illness.

AD: Bioflu is a marketing ploy to make people think that it really cures the flu. It just relieves its symptoms which specifically are cough colds fever and body aches. You're body's immune system fights the flu.

Danger: As I've said pag trinangkaso automatic Bioflu and because the other products are believed to cure colds too people tend to take them ng sabay sabay, which might be dangerous. 

Note: The non drowse variant doesn't contain the Chlorpheniramine Maleate

Anti Diarrhea and anti GI spasm drugs (Loperamide, Hyoscine N Bromide)

How it works: Too technical to explain but both of this drugs alter the motility of the GI tract.

AD: Buscopan, being punched in gut symptoms, Diatabs is marketed as the 1st aid for diarrhea.

Danger: If you feel pain in your tummy it might be telling you something serious. The ad was right nakakrelieve sya but make sure  your doctor sees you first. It might be a start of something surgical. What happens is it masks your symptoms. For example appendicitis if your symptoms are masked the appendix could rupture and pwede ka mamatay dito imbes na maliit na hiwa lang isang malaking hiwa ang mangyayari and mas mahal.

Loperamide: The first treatment for diarrhea is hydration and nothing else. Antibiotics for certain conditions but most of it are viral. Diarrhea is you're body telling you that you've eaten something bad and it wants to expel all of it. Defense mechanism. There is a certain bacteria na if you slow your intestines down mas matagal interaction ng toxins nya with the walls of your intestines and it could destroy it gaining access to your bloodstream causing havoc.

Politics, Ano Pa Ba?

Noynoy: Sana wag mo masyado i-emphasize  na anak ka ni president Cory and ni Ninoy na bayani. Although your parents were great wala ka panaman talaga na prove eh. I've met you once sa hospital and you seem like a nice person naman pero in my opinion pakisabi sa mga PR people mo na i-focus yun campaign on you not on your parents. Lalo ko tuloy naalala na kapatid mo si Kris kung kamag-anak sa kamag anak ang pag uusapan. Badtrip lalo di ba?

Mar -iboboto sana kita kaso asawa mo si Korina!

Villar: In my opinion yung current situation sa senate could work for you. You are masterfully playing the underdog title.Mag-kakasympathy sa iyo yun mga tao, which could translate to votes. Honestly yun privilege speech mo about it was a campaign speech eh politcal circus na kung circus but sana na lang you chose to stay to answer questions from your colleagues insteadof walking out. Masyadong ma-drama eh. Isa pa gusto mo tumulung sa mahihirap. HOW????  Kailangan ba talaga mahirap dati yun president to be effective? Kailangan lang natin yun may genuine concern mahirap man sya o mayaman.

Loren: Ikaw ay nasa bottom ng listahan ko sa VP. Actually if you are the only one running for VP I still won't vote for you. As I've said before nung impeachment ni ERAP, anti ERAP ka you even cried on national tv when the chamber voted against opening of the 2nd envelope. Then after 3 years running mate ka ni FPJ. Just a year ago kalaban ka ni Villar ngayon kakampi ka na nya. Political prostitution!  Yung ads mo are simply annoying. Isa kang OROCAN! Contributor ka sa global warming or climate change!

ERAP:convicted plunderer pero respectable pa din ang survey results for you. Dito ko na dedepress sa current state ng Pilipinas. Ano bang klaseng utak meron tayo?

Binay: Ganito kami sa Makati pero imposible magawa mo yan sa bansa unless gawin mong 40% ang VAT.
